We seek an intelligent and intelligible way of talking about the transcendent, especially over a pint of beer. We seek authentic friendships, mutual encouragement, and collective joy.

We're open to all religious identities that seek to develop spiritual beauty in others, who desire some psychological integration, empathy and encouragement. All friends of of God's creation are welcome to participate in the conversation.

Every month we'll have some sort of challenging topic that we can discuss. It might include sex and politics. We might quote scripture, if imperfectly.

It might not always be Christian Scripture.

But there will always be a pint of beer, sometimes made by monks.

War, Violence and Torture:

Some argue that religion causes violence; others believe religion is the solution to violence. For hundreds of years, Christians did not fight wars; and yet, just war theory is grounded in Augustinian practice. And even now, there is a huge divide between those who think Christians can support torture (evangelicals) and oppose (mainline protestants).

What members are saying

It's a great way to meet interesting, open-minded people to share differing viewpoints.

Nice group of people. I am sure if we were able to have any kind of meaningful conversation it would have been very nice.

“Hi Everyone! I have always found religion to be a facinating subject, so much so that I majored in it at Fordham...since having to get a "real job", I miss discussing these topics and would love to meet like minded people.”
