Greetings Pub Theologians,
Every Sunday at the church where I work, we serve lunch to 40-50 people down on their luck. It's a combination of undocumented workers, mentally ill people, guys who just can't get a job. Groups ranging from the Bengali Association, The Bedford Reform Synagogue, and the Orthodox Seminary of St. Vladimir's serve food for these men. Usually a group from St. Barts would do this Sunday, but it looks like we don't have anyone the Sunday coming up, October 4th. If you are interested in experiencing this sort of ministry, we need help this Sunday at 11am. We especially need help with providing food. A group of five-six people could easily whip up a delicious meal for these guys. We'd need someone to provide each a protein, a starch, a vegetable or two, a salad and dessert. For the proteins, one could bake, for example, 50 chicken legs in a marinade; or make three pans of lasagna (which would be both a protein and a starch), a pan of sausage cooked in chicken broth, peppers and onions; a pan of asparagus or broccoli or carrots; a few bags of salad (usually 6-7 heads of lettuce or 5 washed bags), and 3-4 pies. If you want to participate, you can just bring food, or just come and serve. In any case, just email me if you can help so we aren't too redundant. I'll be blessing the animals upstairs this Sunday, so you can even bring your pets if you'd like. If people have a good enough time, we could even got to the pub afterward. If you can't do this - don't feel guilty. I wouldn't normally use this as a place to plea for help. I'd still love to see you on October 7th, at the Lazy Boy for a conversation. Again my apologies for the short notice. Thank you for your patience, and your consideration. Gawain de Leeuw |

What time on Sunday? When do you need food and what time is food served?

Sorry I was unable to assist on short notice. Please keep us posted about future need, and I can plan on making a food donation.
