Are churches useful anymore? Should they shut their doors? why not have church in a bar or movie theater? What should churches be doing?

Relevant or irrelevant? Partially relevant? Are they schools of delusion, truth, or perhaps useful delusions?

Discuss.

Religulous.

The topic for the day is the relationship of money and religion. Is Money a religion? Can one have both religious feeling and lots of moolah? Does affluence corrode religious feeling? Are religious institutions corrupted by money?

We'll may talk about if people get more religious in a recession or not.

The new date is January 14th at a new, quieter, but very fabulous place called "Emma's"

Religulous.

We'll discuss religion in the movies, especially the position of agnosticism against faithfulness. We'll probably discuss what do people think of church? Of faith? Do skeptics just not get it? Or are religious people fools? Or is there any such thing as religion?

I don't see where religulous is playing in Westchester. If you find one, get in touch, and let's see it together. For now, we'll see the movie independently.

We'll meet and discuss.

Feel free to bring other movies about religion into the discussion.

We have had to change the date to December 10th. Our apologies!

August 6th, I'd like to throw a party. I'll provide the wine and the meat. You bring beer and salad. Invite friends.

We will discuss all sorts of things, but we'll probably continue discussing "sin." At our last meeting we just couldn't get enough.

I'll provide the grill.

RSVP! Then you have a seat at the table.

Brazen Fox - upstairs in the back.... Perhaps it will be quieter. We'll try the service, even though there are fewer beers.

First, the beer. We often order something holy or unholy, made by monks. If we agree, we can get a pitcher. There is plenty of good food you can enjoy.

Individuals may introduce themselves and share their religious background. This doesn't take long, and we often offer condolences, as well as support.

Shared laughter is possible.

We may begin by talking about "what is organized religion." Given the nature of my desk, it's definitely not in my church. Then we'll complain a bit. Perhaps we'll exchange ideas.

I will not severely manage the topic. It might move all over the place.

At the very least, we'll have honest engagement with spirituality and faith over a beer, usually made by monks.

RSVP! Then you have a seat at the table.

But we've gotten a couple no-shows in the past, so we'll probably squeeze you in.
